Our PTA – "Crumbs"
Crowcombe & Stogumber Primary Schools, and the Pre-School have one Parent Teacher Association, known as "Crumbs", derived from the words 'Crowcombe' and 'Stogumber'. Any parent or staff member may join and its role is to encourage close links between home and school, and of course, organising fundraising events for the schools.
"Crumbs" has an annual Annual General Meeting at which the Committee for the forthcoming year is elected to run the PTA, and the roles include a chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary and committee members. The Committee members for this academic year of 2016 – 2017 are:
Chair - Laura Hogevold
Vice Chair - vacancy
Treasurer - Katy Davis
Secretary - Caroline Lee
Fundraising Co-ordinator - Sally Hawkins
The main fund-raising events for our schools include the Christmas Fayre, Summer Fair, Bingo, cake sales to name a few. The money raised by the PTA is intended to provide the 'extras' requested by the schools which their normal budget will not cover. The Committee and Mrs Norman decide how the money is to be spent, or if there are any particular projects for which the PTA's help will be required.
Everyone is welcome to join the PTA – if you don't fancy taking on a big role or task, there are plenty of smaller jobs to be done which all contribute to the PTA's work – for instance, even just putting posters up around your village. Many hands make light work!
Please do keep an eye on the web-site and noticeboards for the next PTA Crumbs event.
