Cricketers Win Three Out Of Three!

On the 27th of April the 9 squad team of Crowcombe & Stogumber set off to play three cricket matches against:

Samford Arundel

Priorswood School

And Stawley school

Our first match we played against Samford Arundel… we won the coin toss and chose to bowl first. The first pair to bat was Issy and Jacob, followed by Abi and Rhys and finally Oliver and Elliot. The scores were 226-275. Even though we won we still showed great sportsmanship. The man of the match was… Zak Rexworthy for being very respectful to the other team.

Our second match we played against Priorswood school… again we chose to bat first. The first pair to bat was Elliot and Zak, 2nd were Isaac and Oliver and the final batsmen were Teddy and Rhys. The scores were 212-258. We were playing against a team who had only played once before.  Our whole team deserved man of the match because all of us had to lower our bowling and batting skills as their team was a year 3 and 4 team and ours was a more experienced team.

Our final match was against Stawley, who beat us narrowly in rugby. We were determined to beat them. We chose to bowl first. When we batted Issy and Jacob started, handing it over to Elliot and Zak, followed by Teddy and Abi. We had to beat 252 runs. It was Teddy’s last ball and we were four runs away from winning. Teddy hit it for a four and we WON!

We are all looking forward to the next competition and hope to win again, but don’t forget the sportsmanship and the good behaviour. Having really good team-mates and an excellent, enthusiastic attitude is helping us to be an even better team!

Our next competition is in May, so we have time to practice and become better team players.
